Green Space

SUSTAINABILITY

Third Avenue’s focus on sustainability throughout the design process included engaging both an environmentally sustainable design consultant and a stormwater consultant.

This means the in-depth sustainability plan and resultant design incorporates:

  • Rainwater harvesting
  • Water-saving taps
  • Water reuse for landscaping
  • Glazing elements
  • Window orientation
  • Window shading on windows

THIRD AVENUE'S ENVIRONMENTAL CONTRIBUTION

Another aspect of Third Avenue’s sustainability considerations includes the approach to the green spaces.

These spaces provide significant value and contribution to the environment in terms of:

Water Quality
Considered landscaping prevents natural contaminants from the soil entering the water supply, keeping pollutants out of waterways.

Reduced Soil Erosion

Plant covering and mulch enables soil to stay in place, keeping sediments out of water sources such as lakes and streams, to reduce flooding.

Fresh, Quality Air
The abundance of greenery in Third Avenue helps remove smoke, dust and carbon dioxide and other air pollutants, providing optimal air quality.

Resource Conservation
Third Avenue’s green spaces allows temperatures to be naturally modified, reducing the amount of fossil fuels used for heating and cooling.
